Cafe Review: Big Street SG

00:21:00

BIG STREET is a local heritage style dine-in restaurant located in a 2 ½ storey conservation shop house.

The shop house is a corner unit with excellent full glass frontage where you can enjoy the view of the park from any level. Comfortable seating, entertaining music and interesting furnishing created a welcoming atmosphere for dining in and chilling out.

With WIFI readily available, you can enjoy your cuppa and the ambiance while you serve the net or just catching up with friends.

One can also get to learn the history of this building through the heritage panel displayed on the wall of the staircase going to the second storey. With artistic and creative lighting, big street also serves as a beacon for excellent late night comfort food and ‘night cap’.

The second level and mezzanine level are ideal for hosting private functions and our culinary team will be pleased to create menus that suit your special occasions.

Among big street’s menu offering are some of Singapore’s top ten local favourite dishes such as hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, char kway teow, pepper crabs, fish head curry, satay, kaya toasts, nasi briyani and roti prata. You will also get to enjoy our creation of chilli crab in a ‘prata bag’ and a variety of delicious prata wraps.

They also have a selection of HPB endorsed healthier choice meals for the health conscious and weight watchers. Healthier oil carrying the HCS logo is used for all our food preparation.

The café & bar counters serve gourmet coffee and teas, local flavour ice creams, a thirst quinching range of cocktails and mocktails, and a selection of red and white wines. Their service executives will be pleased to assist you with food and drink pairing if you require.

Iced Latte - $6++

Average Latte.

Iced Teh Tarik - $4++

Normal Teh Tarik. I believe I can find better teh tarik.

Chili Crab Prata - $12++

The prata was filled up with big chunky bits of crab in the chili crab gravy. Everything was perfect here, best to eat when is hot, try not to take too long for photo-taking, when it turn cold, the prata wrap will become soggy and it will lose the crispiness and shiok.

Salted Egg Yolk Prata - $6++

At first we was still hesitating whether to order each of us one salted egg yolk prata for ourselves or order one and shared but we glad that we choose to have one by ourselves. The salted egg yolk prata is value for money. The salted egg yolk legit good and value for money. The prata was very crispy and the salted egg yolk was savory and well matched with the prata.

Food: 3/5
Ambiance: 2/5
Service: 2/5

My Verdict:

We enjoyed our dining experience at Big Street cafe. The food was good especially salted egg yolk prata but the waiting time for food was slightly longer. The price was slightly over-priced as what we think.
